I have to evaluate the condition of my 1970 roadrunner's steering wheel, however I was not able to find much information on what the inner metal ring is? My car does have that. Does it serve a purpose?

I noticed that if you buy an OEM steering wheel from on of the few restoration companies out there they typically do not come with that piece.

Go to the front of the car, open the hood and lean over on the right of the radiator. Put your ear right down there, next to the purple thing. Now have someone push on that ring.

Yes yes its the horn!! Should have explained better. I have found OEM replacement wheels that do not include that inner metal ring. I was just wondering if all of the 1970 roadrunner steering wheels had that.

Very cool. Thanks for the link and information. While we are on the subject I noticed that power steering is mentioned. Was power steering an option on roadrunners with a 440+6 and air grabber hood? I know that A/C, for example, was not available on the roadrunners that had the air grabber option due to limited space.

Yes, you could get power steering on anything.

So to chime in Did the 69 come with this type of steering wheel or was that a special order. I got one to put on my car due to the old one was rotting apart. I always like that type of steering wheel. Figured it was not a runner with out it. Russ.

Like I said just wanted on with the half horn rig and padded tri pad with the bird in the middle. As said mine was showing the metal ring under the coating for the steering wheel. So got one off here. Russ. I like it. :thumbsup2:
