Trunk lock

So I was at the house after going to a show and started to unlock the trunk. They cylinder came out looks like something broke on it plus the nut on it came off. I'm ordering a new one but until then I want to put the cylinder back in. I cant seem to get the old nut back on it. Help.
 
Striped nut might get a metric size so it will tighten on the lock. Did you put an introduction in when you joined. Like to see pic's of your car and the lay out of how you got it and how long you have had it. NEED PIX.

The cylinder is held in place with a retention clip. What nut are you talking about?

Dont know how to post a pic. Maybe the lock is not original but I ordered a new one from classic industries. It looks original from what I've ordered.

sure...I've used a coat hanger for a muffler hanger on my old work truck to get me to payday. not any half assed redneck repair on a now classic car that can sit in the garage until I get the right part. So did you get that Hefty bag tapped up for a rear window?
 
Ok Smart A-----. No I did what any one would do having a custom glass made to fit that hole. At least us red neck's get her done!!!!! So where have you been hiding. Dave. Good too see your back I missed your snide remarks. :lol: :poke: :mob:
 
Help. I got my new trunk lock from classic industries. It's too small and according to the company it's the one for a 66-72 mopar. PY012B. WTH?

That suck's. They don't look the same at all. Wonder if some one switched the lock at some time or another. Mine for my 69 look's like the one they sent you. Maybe some of the other guy's will see the old one and explain why they are not the same.
 
The problem is not the lock. The problem is the hole has been enlarged somehow. There should be a dimple in around the hole for the lock which is not present in your pic.
 
Did not want to say that but look's like it had been punched out the old lock and cut a hole to put this lock in. Mine had been broke into and the hole was messed up some but was able to straighten every thing out. I agree with quikbir
 
Chrysler switched to the nut style retainer in the late 70’s and it is bigger in diameter. The hole on your 69 deck lid was drilled out so your only options are to weld up and repaint the deck lid or get another of the later style lock. I have seen them on F bodies and I had a 78 New Yorker that had that style of trunk lock. So I would say any 76 and up Chrysler product would have the style lock you need.
 
remember that the original lock is recessed into the deck lid a bit and must be in about the same place for retention clip to work. no idea how flexible the later model lock fits

I agree with you Russ Hood. Don't know where some people get off. When looking for answers to a problem how many references would you use to achieve your goal. Do you trust one body shop when getting a price. Or do you trust one mechanic shop. Enough said some people need to just keep their mouth's shut and opinion to their selves. That is why some guy's don't stay on a site due to other's.

It's a shame that you cannot take your own advise. You have NO IDEA how many complaints I get about your inane rambling and posting in EVERY FREAKING THREAD whether you know the answer to the question posed or not...and you usually don't. Grab a mirror before you start throwing rocks at anyone.
