Have a 69 RR with 383 4 speed. Build date is Jan 3, 69. The partial build sheet doesn’t help. Is there any way of knowing if it originally had a 22” or 26”? Car was built in California, would it have had a shroud?. The radiator that’s in it now is 26” wide. I would appreciate any input, thanks.

easiest way is to look at opening in core support. if your 26 inch radiator is not covered by the opening then it came with a 26 inch rad. if the hole is not as big as the radiator, then it came with a 22 inch rad. if it looks hacked up probably the smaller one also

Nailed it. :drinks:

Thanks for the help. Any thoughts about the shroud? I’m leaning toward it didn’t have one

Most did not have one. I suspect that some options would include one such as ac. Not sure about this just guessing

Max cooling package, fan clutch and shroud was an option and standard on certain performance engines, towing and A/C. I believe that covers it.

According to the factory Service Manual, 383. 4BBL, 4 spd came with a 22" radiator and no shroud.
I whole heartedly agree with quickbird. Install a shroud. Not cheap, but well worth it.
