This will be my first time shipping a car part. Any recommendations on what shipping method? Any recommendations on payment options so that we both are satisfied and no one is able to screw the other?

Monteway. Not the cheapest, but super quick. Credit card deposit and cash to driver upon delivery.

Tried Road Runner, but bailed on them after the car sat 5 days waiting for them to get a load together.

Trying to ship a steering column/wheel and hood hinges.

On larger or odd shaped items like the steering column, I always use FedEx, as they are more economical than the Post office. Pack the heck out of any box you pack, I typically try to procure old swimming pool solar covers that people throw out in the springtime when they open their pools for the season. It’s like yards of heavy duty bubble wrap. If possible when selling parts in the future, try to use post office flat rate boxes, they are free at the post office, the rate doesn’t change and you can give shipping quotes instantly, and they are priority mail so they have a pretty quick ship time. I also use cardboard tubes that I get from the carpet shop, they come in the center of a roll of carpet, carpet shops usually just throw them away, they’re strong, and they are great for shipping trim.

Once you get the hang of it, and get a few items in stock, you’ll find it’s not that hard. I keep a supply of boxes, the above mentioned solar cover bubble wrap, and try to list just a few items at a time so I don’t get overwhelmed. Try starting with items that fit into flat rate boxes, it makes the process much easier.
