I am about to paint the black dash trim (A good friend's car) that goes around the gauge bezels & across the dash to the passenger side on a 70 w/ Rallye Dash. What shade of black should I use, flat black, satin black etc.
It is not a concourse restoration by any means but, it IS a really nice car that needs some dressing up & is a DRIVER. I will do the edges in chrome like the original but just wanted some input from someone who's done this. Thanks in advance.

Also, I'm not sure how the trim piece above the glove box is removed. (I know, the bird is not supposed to be there, it will be removed) Is it glued on? (doubtful) Are there fasteners hidden somewhere? Do I need to remove the glove box liner to access the fasteners? The other pieces appear to be screwed in place. I need to remove all to clean & paint them, & I DO NOT want to break them. HELP! Thanks again

No bird on the dash. It goes on the passenger door.

That looks excellent. I found out how I remove the right side trim. I plan on Satin black or Semi-gloss spray paint & I do have those same Moltow chrome paint pens to do the borders of the trim & the small letters that are molded into the gauge face for lights, wipers etc. Thanks for the help.

I know you said that its not a concourse restoration, but wanted to give you the option to use the correct paint for the dash bezel.
The color is Jewel Black 9324. They call it a suede finish. Any auto paint store should be able to mix up a can for you.
