    I'm from the school that keeping as much original metal as possible is preferable. Having said that, cutting out the wheel opening and replacing it with new metal is a lot of work. IMO, It would be easier to replace the whole quarter panel. Personally if it was my project and it's only the wheel...

    I know you said that its not a concourse restoration, but wanted to give you the option to use the correct paint for the dash bezel. The color is Jewel Black 9324. They call it a suede finish. Any auto paint store should be able to mix up a can for you...
