Your car was assembled in Los Angeles. Those LA fender tags have their own characteristics. I've seen them with a different font as well. They are the only assembly line that I can think of that has two distinct fender tags for the same model year. The 99 code for special order paint. In 1969...

I am pretty sure if you wanted a 440 in your 1969 Road Runner convertible....they would have sold you a GTX. The way to prove it would be the original engine. Check the pan rail VIN stamping...if they are a match that would be a good start in saying it came from the factory like that. Dave

Here a pic of the tag for you numbers guys. Seems that they introduced Vit C - K2 on Feb 1st 1969 so this was one of the last Omaha Orange cars. Nice sheetmetal car, needs all the mechanicals gone over. Just playing with the wiring the last couple of days :facepalm: Dave
