Haven't put a 6bbl on a 383, but I've run them on a couple of 440's. For my money, the best street/strip setup in the world. Decent mileage when you keep your foot out of it and and a lovely exhilarating feeling when you can't. RB's love 6 packs.
It's kind of a tuff nut to track down, but here's the one I ordered and it's a nice stainless steel spring that serves it's purpose well. Free shipping as well:

UPDATE: The Wire reenforced hose proved to be too tough to maneuver around the oil filter so I went with the stainless steel 1.75" OD spring inside of the existing hose. Operating from 180-195 degrees F whether being flogged, driving through town in stoplight to stoplight traffic, or cruising...
O'Reilly Auto has the Gates Green Stripe wire reenforced. My radiator uses the 1.75 inch I/D. Your hose will be on this page: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search/Radiator+Hose+&+Kits/N0937/C0108.oap?year=1969&make=Plymouth&model=Roadrunner&vi=5144699&brand=Gates
Cools down FAST, like in...
Hoses are all nearly new and in good repair. Just surprisingly flaccid on the bottom end of the radiator :). T clamps are heavy duty and in good shape.
As you folks predicted, the lower radiator hose is very pliable and not at all stiff. Additionally has about a 17 inch length so little structural rigidity. Also the radiator cap was a little dirty and the pressure relief valve probably not functioning the best, so I gave it a good cleaning...
All this is very helpful and appreciated! Thanks for the comments so far, I feel I have some very logical things to look in to and some possible remedies.
I'll be doing some troubleshooting tomorrow and will post findings here. Thanks a lot for helping with great ideas!
About 1500 miles on car/engine since resto-overhaul, so hopefully not part failure yet, though we'll see. The car has been only infrequently driven over the last 4 years by the previous owner, so a flush and fill is a good place to start. I'll knock that out and report back.
Thanks for the ideas!
While driving my (new to me) 69 Road Runner 440 6bbl on the highway this weekend, over a 3 hour trip at highway speeds (60-70 mph) the engine ran within 3 or 4 degrees of 180 the entire trip with the exception of 2 or 3 times when the coolant temp gauge suddenly registered a rise in a matter of...
Glad you asked!
My last Mopar was a '68 Coronet with a 440/A833/Dana 4:10 that I sold when I went into the military. It wasn't a beauty queen, but it was insanely fast.
For the next 30 years I lusted after every big block B-Body I laid my eyes on, waiting to have the resources to grab a nice...
Hello!
entropy1049 here. Had a bunch of old Mopars as a youngster before joining the military in '86. Left the military in '00 and just now found the right car at the right time to scratch the old itch.
Pick up my '69 Roadrunner next weekend. Will flood pics once it's in my grimy paws...
