Turn down the fuel psi to be sure it is not getting past the needle,seat double check you are in the idle system.[you can stall the engine by turning the idle screws in all the way.]

I am sure you will have some things to go over like the valve lash the idle mix,spark plugs...Congrats on the drive!!!!!

Could the intermediat shaft be moving changing the timing at more rpm?The timing light needs to be held shut sometimes to get a signal with the magnetic contacts.Can you try a different carb?
