From go to whoa

Just a few shots of my roadrunner down under

General Description

Car has changed a bit since I bought it. Had those 17" magnum-style mags - not the worst, but definitely not for me. Bought the car in Feb 2017, tuned gave it a tune and went straight down to the Chryslers on the Murray show in Albury, about 500km. Managed to take it off the clock, and I was hooked.
Came back home and gave the motor a once-over, heads, cam, nice guts, and a set of "little less restrictive" pipes. And the nfinally some black steelies - now it really felt like my car.

Took it to the track a couple of times - more addictive than I could have known - now I needed more power. And a new diff, as it woudl turn out. Engine is out again, but this time a little more serious than the first time.

Thanks for the photo show RKNLR. That is one bad ass runner buddy. Keeping these car's alive is a chore to say the least and you have honored the car grate. Hope mine turn's out as good. I love more HP but at my age want to stay out of trouble. The Little 383 can keep the law busy enough for me. Have a grate one and good luck on the new family member. I have a new grandson named Wallen after the country western singer. The other one is now three years old and named after his father which is named after me. He is the fourth Russ. Have a good one and let me know when you get the monster in the car and how it dose. That Dania should hold fine for you. Wish you and your family well and be prosperous. :thumbsup2: :kartman:Now lets have a cold one Mate!!!!!:drinks:

The box is bolted up to the gearvendors, and is currently sitting on the bench ready for install. It'll go in once my engine comes off the dyno. Will let you go guys know how tight it goes in. For the record, their paperwork suggests possibly having to give the tunnel a light. Tap or 2, but no major mods.
Changed the cross member from a manual one to an auto, as the overdrive is designed to bolt to an auto cross member. Bolts right in though

Yah, that’s what I’m especially curious about is the ‘tap or two’ that I’ve heard and read about. Please do post an update.
I like the stance of the car, what’s going on there? Any suspension mods or just adjust the ride height via the torsion bars, and for the rear?
Maybe you’ve covered all this in a different post/thread. You can re-direct me if so.
Cheers

reversed the eyes on the leaf springs (upside-down), so same spring rate, but the car sits lower. Also the tires are 275/60 on 15's, so they sit right up there.
Will definitely post updates on install of gearvendors for you guys, i really hope it goes in nice and easy.

You have a very beautiful looking car!!!
The car is pretty clean, but it amazes me the shortcuts people take when doing a resto like this. They had the car on a rotisserie, but didnt remove the hood hinges, and it looks as though they fast-forwarded the repair on the rocker panels, because there are already a few spots of rust popping through, and the car was only painted in 2011.

Do you have to mod the floor at all for the gear vendor?

great looking car
Covered most of the pros and cons in the Driveline Upgrade thread. Gearvendors works great, some slight modification to trans tunnel required. I personally had more issues with the trans mount pushing the trans/OD unit way too high in the tunnel. Some small mods to the cross member and voila!

Free my end is stock as a rock, nothing crazy. Rear end is pure leaf spring heaven, no mods other than eye reversal. No offset kit required to fit this wheel and tire combo.

Cheers from Down Under. (i'm in Newcastle NSW)
thats a sweet ride you have there.....

i've just purchased a 69 roadrunner and hoping to see it late November....cant wait..

What wheels tyres and offset? . Looks good
fronts are 235's on 15x8's, 4" backsapce i think form memory. Rears are 275/60's on 15x10.s, 4 1/2" backspace. They are from wheelvintiques.com. I got em through summitracing.com because wheelvintiques for some reason would not ship dpwn under.

Thanks mate. Theres not many down here, hope to see yours out and about.

Beautiful bird! Those Chevelles pale in comparison.
Drove a 72 Chevelle from Nashville to the Jack daniels factory a couple years back. Only had it for a couple of days. Can see the attraction, but they can see my tailights.
