The "D" indicates 1968...but this is odd because if you have a 11/20/68 casting date then this is obviously a 1969 engine. Seems to me that this should be an "E"... Strange...very strange...

"L" means low compression. Same for "LC"...you sure that is not a "LC" stamping...?

This is a little weird. According to the list I used your casting number does not exist. 2568130 is the casting number for 1959-71 383 engines. There should be some markings on the flat pad on the drivers side front of the engine. What do you have there?

2468130 is the correct casting number. Lay off of the hooch and/or find a better casting list. :jester:

Ah, I thought that you were referring to the stampings by the distributor...

The "D" indicates that the block was cast on day shift. That's all.

Good luck finding out about the "LL". Just some Chrysler-internal casting mumbo-jumbo that doesn't show up in any of the books. Wouldn't even give it a second thought. Doesn't make it special or valuable.

so Frenchie...how's the Fatherland?

The trip over was a nightmare. Weather on the east coast messed everything up. Missed my connection in Atlanta to Amsterdam. Got re-routed through JKF and Paris. I HATE the CDG airport in Paris. Like everything the French do, it's POORLY laid out. Finally got here 24 hours after I left the house. The show starts tomorrow and Friday can't get here soon enough so I can come home. As many times as I have done this, it just isn't fun anymore.

I appreciate all the feedback, I believe everything is correct from radiator, date code on engine, and transmission for a 1969 Roadrunner. As soon as I get the car shipped to me I will post pictures. I've added a photo of what I'm asking about the LL D.

Thanks again for all your help!IMG_20160306_223955_01-2.jpg

17 its the French police number! you get the point of the French organization AMCE A12, it is always a mess when they do something! like for the road work it's awful!
The road that I use to go to work was a bit old but very functional, but they decided to rebuild it. Now they put some red lines in all corners of the road cross, and it is now a total mess! the road lane are thinner with higher borders which is great for turns --' and now every morning there are some traffics and now I double my time to go to work!

that's how we tell it's springtime over here...as soon as the construction barrels come out and we loose one lane for the summer. they came out last week.
