Will be putting my 73 bird together hopefully this summer. Originally came with a 400 but the project came with a running 440. Going to install the 440 so I can get it running while I rebuild a 400 that I recently got. Will be running HP exhaust and original pipes. So question of the day, is the 440 exhaust system the same as the 400.

The 440 is 3/4" taller so it depends on how much play you have in the pipes

This is the Magnaflow 19304 Exhaust Pipe 2.5 ". According to their spec sheet, it's good for the BB and RB. The rest of the system should not be a problem. I would of thought that this would be slightly different for each application.

No, you might have to loosen a few things up to get it to seat then retighten the system or it may fall into place. That usually is not the case for me LOL

Thanks 69hemibeep. One last question, was it a true dual exhaust system or did they have a crossover pipe.
    Thanks in advance.

I believe the 440 in the GTX and Hemi cars got the H pipe not the 383
