AVS 4615S or AVS 4711S Which One?

I have seen both of these carter part numbers listed for my car on various webstes. It's a 1969 RR with 383 HP, 4-Speed and no AC. Which is the correct carb for a restored car?

Well my car is an auto and has a Carter 4682 on it. According to the Dodge and Plymouth Muscle Car Red Book, second edition they list the 4615s for manual trans, and show the 4711s, 4682s and the 4638s for the auto. Not sure how accurate that books is, but I imagine that someone will chime in.

Chrysler Muscle Car parts interchange manual shows the 4615 for 383 335hp manual non a/c except Road runner and Super bee. 4711 was used on runners and bees. If you can believe Paul Herd

I'm getting the feeling the 4615 was for plain 383 MT at 330HP for Dodges and the 4711 was for RR etc. at 335HP. I took the original carb off the car in 1977 and sold it to a friend. Can't find the friend to ask what the number is. Basically I need someone that noted what the carb number was on an original 383 RR MT.

buy a new carb if you are driving it--I did and my car runs great--I think the new ones are built for the eth-anal gas they sell us!

Take the old carb to someone that can put bushings in the throttle shafts holes, if they are loose you will never get it to run right. There is a guy in town that I handed a wore out piece of crap to that was correct #s for a car and a day later and $130 it ran like new. I do all my own carb work unless the throttle shaft wear needs addressed.

Update: After digging around I found an old thread from 2012 where some Dodge Charger people were discussing the difference between 300HP and 335HP. In the tread they mentioned the 4615/77 carb and mentioned Broadcast Sheets. So it got me thinking about the 77. Sure enough I looked at my Broadcast sheet and it had a 77 for a carb code. Icing on the cake was I got one purple carb tag with one of the 4615s I bought and it says right on it 77. So with that logic I believe I have the right Carb Number.

Chuck, if you haven't already found the info. you are seeking, Galen Govier has P/N books for every mopar made. These are pocket guides and offer very valuable info. I will look for the correct carb # and send it along 12/13 just in case you need it. If not, then it is out there for anyone that may be looking for the same info.
