First of all I would like to say hello to the members here and to introduce myself before I bombard you with questions . My name is Tom , I live in Vermont and I have been working on a 69' roadrunner ,383 four speed going on two years now . A friend who's more mechanically inclined then I am helps out from time to time , I'm sure that's why we haven't had to post any questions on this sight until now. The first time I saw and heard a roadrunner up close I vowed that I would have one for my very own some day . It only took forty years but I finally have one and she is beautiful. I bought this car in the middle of winter and had it shipped from Michigan and only drove it about a quarter mile from where the truck dropped it off before we started striping her down to the bear bones . Anyway , a lot has been done in the past two years and she will be ready for paint soon ,but before that happens we have a few issues we would like to take care of .Hopefully someone can help us out . When I turn the ignition key to the on position, that is all the way to the right ,the engine will not start until I release the key . The starter turns over but the engine does not start with the key in the on position , it only starts after I let go of the key , very strange . Does anyone know what I'm talking about ?

Thanks, Tom.

Does it have a Mopar electronic ignition with a 4 pole ballast resistor by chance? If so, bad ballast resistor.

Change out the ballast first, (cheaper) and if that doesn't fix it change the ignition switch.

There is no ballast resistor anymore . We installed a Mallory electronic distributor and their coil ,which their tec support said we no longer needed the ballast resistor .

I did some additional research and found a way to test the ignition switch to see if its faulty . So far its looking like it may be the switch .
Thanks, Tom

Thank you ! I've been over to the photo bucket sight to see if I could get started . As soon as I get it all figured out I would love to share all the work we have done over the last eighteen mounts. We documented pretty much every step lol.
