At the back on this post car their was a piece of rubber with a slit in it and remember something going through the slit to attack to the body where the sail panel area is. Belt way trim is the only thing I can think of that might have done this. Any pic's or ideas would be appreciated. Three year's later and can't find that piece of rubber for sale. Where the pop out window install's. ???????

any photos of what it looks like ?
Have not found the pic's I took but they are on VHS so don't know how to post them. Thinking the belt way trim goes up through their. Will have to look at my trim. Been busy with the K member. Will take a look tomorrow. Thanks Just thought some of the post car owner's had it.

Here is the pic's of where I am talking about. First pic is of my car. Second pic is out of the B Body restoration book. IMG_0104 (1).JPG Scan_20200217.png See the slit where the piece is coming out of. That is what I saw on my car. just do not remember is some thing came out of it or went in. Thought to my self this is a leak area. Some kind of trim their or what. I do have a post car.

Ok thanks 69hemibeep. Like stated before going to check my trim to see if any thing went up in their. Just remember that rubber being their. Thought back when that would have to be sealed better. Will find out when putting every thing back on the car. Russ.

Russ - there is just a piece of stainless trim there. It runs from the back of the drip rail to the post. See my disassembly pic - it is plainly visible there by itself. Between it and the body is a strip of foam seal - I got mine from Detroit Muscle Technologies. Then there is another layer of foam strip that wraps from the leading edge of the window assembly (where it screws into the post) all the way back to the pointy end of the window where the latch is located. There is no foam on the bottom of the assembly as there is nothing for it to seal against. There wasn't any rubber or anything with a "slit" in it when I took mine apart. The only rubber is the gasket that the window seals against. My second pic shows the whole thing reinstalled.

Russ, one thing you need to understand about this place is no matter how many directions a thread will take, it will ALWAYS get back on topic. Sometimes it just takes a while. LOL.

Thanks Drop top. Really thought their was something their but your rite. I am down loading your pic's into my picture file. This B body restoration book need's a lot. Just enough to get into trouble. LOL. :thankyou:

Russ, I just put that little corner trim piece on (two times) and took them off the third time. The reason for the third time is after it was on you could see some of the tab that slides under the trim at top of window. I did not like the looks of that. I took them off and taped off the polished part and sand blasted the tab out to the polished part. I sprayed primer and painted it. Now if you look at that corner when it is in place there is a open spot where water can get in. When I put it back in I will start the tab in part way, then put some windshield adhesive on then push it into place. That should seal the opening.

Got those tear drop pieces with my new rain gutter trim. They are not as big as the old one's I still have. Yes think a little butyl their is a good thing. You are far a head of me on putting that runner back together than I. I also seems like the quarter I put on dose not have as much metal as the old quarter. Will see when getting to that point. Have a good one hope you are making progress rite along buddy. Russ. :thumbsup2:
