A local guy is selling a 74 thermoquad that he said was off of a 440. My question is what do I need to look at on this carb? I'm good with Holley, edelbrock and quadrajet carbs. Not very knowledge on the thermo quads? What I see is they were 800, 850 and some 1000 cfm's but they were for the high performance versions. I'm currently running a edelbrock 650 vac secondary's. But I would like to have a carb to make it 100% correct also. Thanks in advance.

Thermoquads can be magical or the work of Satan. Check for a warped main body, they are phenolic. Also the shafts can be sloppy but a specialty carb shop can remedy that. I wonder if the phenolic is machinable?
