Clear Coat Valve Covers ?

Just put 3 coats of High Heat Paint on my 69 440 valve Covers and was wondering if they should be Clear Coated? With the heat under the hood would it peel off ??:huh:

No clear. It will yellow before it peals off. I am unaware of any hi heat clear.

AMEN! I had an '83 Eldo that had chromed valve covers that where cleared, probably by the dealer when they detail it and clear the entire engine compartment. The deterioration was slow so it wasn't noticed until much later. Once I cleaned them with lacquer thinner the difference was amazing. I'd leave it without clear.
