Looking for some info on the axle under my RR. Can anyone help me identify some things?

Nick & I swapped a couple of PMs on this one.

I told him that the 7 21 9A2 was July 21, 1969, Lynch Road, 2nd shift.
The 7 24 9B7 would be July 24, 1969, Hamtramck, 7th shift although I have no idea how an axle gets two stampings for two different plants three days apart, or how you have a 7th shift...

Thought maybe the 603109 might be the actual P/N...? No paper tag or 3 digit ink stamp visible.

Inquiring minds want to know... :D

:jester:

7 21 9A2 July 21st 1969.....603109 is called Bill of materials. The second date is weird, But mine has two 12-18-8C1 and 12-18-8A7

Those numbers don't mean squat. Chance's are it is a fake Dana 60. Get rid of it fast. Just so happen's I'm looking for a fake Dana myself, I'll take it. :jester:

Thanks guys. Just seeing if it was the real deal or out of something else. I'm now happy! :grouphug:

Question: has anyone ever met someone or knows of someone that actually worked at one of the plants assembling these? Someone that actually worked with this stuff first hand? I always see people guess and speculate...but never seen anyone that said "hey I worked in the factory in '69...I remember this or that..."

I have what I call two older friends that both worked for Chrysler one on the line and the other in quality (now that's funny) and development. The differential would have come from Dana or Spicer or who ever owned them at the time.

date is odd for a 69.5 but it is a July 1969.5 3.54 sure grip. what is the RR that it is in? this is what the date and BOM # indicates.

This may be a stupid question, but how did you arrive at the 3.54 sure grip just from looking at the stamped numbers?

Its in my RR (383 matching numbers coupe). Someone removed the original axle prior to 1982 and replaced it with this current Dana.

I looked up your # on a dana site I found a while back. has a great deal of info on there. sorry, I don't know how to cut n paste. LOL !!
