Did all 1970 RR's come std with a Dana 60? What typically would a 383/ torque flite combo gear ratio have been. Also did these cars have a posi unit? Thanks

The 8 3/4 rear with 3.23 gears was standard. Sure Grip was optional. 3.55 and 3.91 optional.

I don't think you could get a Dana 60 in a 383 in 1970.

Posi is another GM term. We gotta break you of this....

Your broadcast sheet will tell you what the car originally had. I'm not that good at broadcast sheets and I'm sure one of these guys can answer that question much better than I can.

The thing is, so many of these cars had gear swaps back when they were new, that you never know for sure until you actually check.

8 3/4 rear. Even the 440 GTX with an auto got an 8 3/4 unless it was a 6bbl

Even those were 8.75" equipped unless someone checked the box to get one of the axle packages. I think you're thinking about the '69.5 A12s which came only with the Dana regardless of transmission.

there SHOULD be a small metal tag attached to the transmission with the gear ratio on it. assuming it hasn't been tampered with. odds are also most likely that it is an open differential and not a sure grip.

If its not a Dana then who would have been the manufacturer in late '69 thru the '70 production year?
