How I did it with out bubbles or having use some kind of liquid.
1. Reference the decal to a point . I used the holes in this case.
2. Trace the position of the original.
3. Temporarily remove the non stick paper backing and reposition it to just expose two edges of the adhesive backing piece. It will stick back on just fine.
4. Now you can use a little tape to stick the decal into the exact position of the tracing and use a little tape to secure it from the bottom on the exposed edge(s) of the sticky paper as you feel necessary,
5. Tape the plastic it into position on the new door from just ONE end and stick it smoothly as you lay it in place. Sort of "rolling it".
All you need is one original door in this case. It references from the front hole on either door.

I guess these were made in Germany?

Good Idea! I used tape to give me a reference point for applying my sticker. This gave me a straight line so I could get it precise. Use two sided emblem tape by 3M to attach my letters. My new doors did not have any holes and did not want to drill the door due to leaks and rust could start in these areas. 13620-b5e1ef4dea9a3e846c303e05868a86e5.jpg38359EBE-E4B1-4AF0-AC88-D5FF597C1EF9.jpeg

Did you use liquid?
I had to replace the right door.
Saved the left.
I evaluated the new door with that option and opted to drill.
Figured if I did want to respray sometime for some reason it's better to take nuts off than pry glue or whatever.
6 of one half dozen of the other.
Factory holes weren't rusty on either door.
The bottom rust is the problem.
And damage.
I'll just seal the holes with good urethane sealant.
(Or make thin little gaskets like the door handles use. Got lots of materials to chose from in my stash.)
The door will outlast me.

You can use dental Flosse to cut off the two-sided 3m tape. Did not have to move the letters everythingIMG_0109.JPG look's good.
