the car is a 383 and I would like to know the color that is supposed to be on the engine. I just replaced the radiator hoses and thermostat and cleaned up the goose neck. Painted it Chrysler (Hemi) Orange....wow was that off color...but not really bad but noticeable. So a paint code number or name would be great.
Thanks

I'm fairly certain Street Hemi Orange was used 69-71? Maybe to '72? Non-A/C of course...

There's two Hemi oranges. The later cars 68(?) and up is more red and the earlier is closer to a true orange.

I think you really need to use one brand for the whole engine to actually get a match.

No doubt to do the entire engine would do the trick.......but at this point, that is out of the question. I will search some Chrysler colors and see what they say and what I can come up with

Both mags told me that it will be anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. It will be in Mopar Muscle and Hemmings Muscle.
Thanks for asking

I found Plastikote chevy orange is pretty close to the 68 up Hemi Orange. Magazines are funny. Car Craft took pics of my C*maro about 5 years ago, have yet to see it.

Is the Roadrunner 383 considered an HP/Police motor?
It was the highest performance 383 @ 335 horse. The 330 horse version would actually be the HP engine - also used on the RR when equipped w/ A/C. Covered quite a few times on here in various threads.

Here's a nice side by side comparison:

You're welcome. Yes, Hemi Orange. Only the A/C-equipped engines were turquoise in '69.
