there was a tree trimming outfit near Pitsburgh a couple years ago that lost one of their trailers,and hit a minivan. killed the parents and the three kids.

Those are exactly what I use also...although mine are yellow & black... :lol:
 
The axle straps are the way to go. The straps that go over the tires are good for enclosed trailers where you can't get at any other tie down points.

It's personal preference for how you locate them. I always would strap through the K-frame in the front and over the axle in the rear. That was a carry over from my racing days were the race car front suspension was kinda loose and the car would float around too much.

Some prefer to have the suspension on the car being towed "work" and some prefer it tied down. I've done it all kinds of ways and never really found my favorite. It all gets the car there with out falling off.

I did swear off chain binders many years ago... The straps are so much easier, better and safer. Mine are black.
 
The only reason I go over the springs (and yes Steve pull the rings under the diff then your left strap goes to the right tie down and so on) is because you run out of room to ratchet it down on a 16ft trlr.
 
John, I've also heard that some guys let the car's suspension work and others that don't. So I didn't know what to as far as that goes. Thanks for all the tips guys!

Ah Ha, that's what I was trying to get someone to think! :jester: At least you had the courage to say it! :D The other idea I had was, "Yeah it's got a Hemi!" And my new truck does!!! :yesnod: BTW, I have no plans on letting mine go anywhere but where I take it!!!!

You got that right Jason! :thumbsup: I just had to punch it to get into traffic on the highway a few times already and that 10 year old Hemi still puts you back in the seat. :drive: This thing is making it easier giving up my Dakota. I really liked that truck and had hoped to keep it running for as long as I could.
 
Don't I know how it puts you back in the seat! Wow I still need the duel pipes coming out the back.
First tank of gas with playing was 14.30 mpg. I was only getting 12.9 to 13.1 with the 4.7 truck I traded .and that was with driving nice.

My first tank worked out to about 16.3, and that's about a 50/50 split highway, secondary roads. And that was before I disconnected the battery so the computer can reset and learn how I drive. Time will tell if it will be any better or not. I know that I probably won't average what I did with my Dakota which was around 18-19.
