69 road runner, 383, 4 speed, no A/C. I've read differing opinions, did the car leave the factory with a radiator fan shroud? Going to install one on mine, just curious about originality. Thanks for the help.

N51 69-71 Maximum Engine Cooling

Probably should be on the fender tag I would think.

It would have a 26" radiator opening in the radiator support and a 26 on the fender tag if it's a Lynch Road car (letter "A" for the 7th digit in the VIN).

Thank you for your help. It's a 22" wide radiator core, so not original. Temp gauge runs a little north of center to about 3/4, not sure if that's normal.

I recently found out just how important the fan shroud is.

I was running a factory spec'd 190 thermostat and it would run about 200. Shut down and you could hear the fuel boiling in the carb. Switch to a 180 and she runs a nice cool 180-185, EXCEPT in heavy stop & go traffic, as I found out this weekend when I went on the Hot Rod Power Tour. Got into a long backup getting into the Madison Wi. venue and I watched the temp climb to a scary 230. A fan shroud is in my future.

EDIT:
Just ordered a shroud & mounting brackets from Mega Parts USA.

Don't feel bad. My car has a 26" radiator with a 180 thermostat and a shroud, and it will run at 175-185 in normal driving but when stuck in traffic for any length of time it will rise over 200 and I've seen it up around 230 also.

Damn Cuda, THAT is NOT what I was hoping to hear.

Talked to one Mopar restorer at the Power Tour and he gave me high hopes for the shroud.
Talked to another guy with a car almost identical to yours. Just like mine, 383, no shroud, 180 stat, factory 7 blade fan and never runs over 175-180.
Sounds like there are no two alike.

How much distance between the fan and the radiator? If to far apart, this will cause over heating at idle.
