Got round to fixing the door mirror using the heat gun trick given on here.Found a couple of rivets holding the clip so used the superglue method. Now solid as a rock and well worth doing. Thanks to whoever came up with the idea  ,here's a couple of pics.

I want to do this fix. How long did you keep the heat gun on it? Front 1 inch away from mirror? Rear?

I tried this a while ago and couldn't get the mirror to pop..... :brickwall:

just kept the heat gun moving over the glass. used an infared thermometer and got it close to 200 before i tried to coax it out.

I just kept the gun moving over the glass for a minute or so about 1 inch away, then try moving the glass till it flips out.

i used a plastic prying tool so i wouldnt chip or scratch the mirror..not much room there either..worked great
