Hard to find parts.

I am finding that certain parts are hard to near impossible to find while others are easy because of companies like Classic Industries. Because of that I wanted to ask everyone what parts you had trouble finding when restoring your car.

For example, my RR originally had a front bench seat and I have been unable to find a frame. I have a few leads now but it took time to find them.

So what other parts are tough to find or are typically not remade by companies like Classic?

This will help give me some guidance on what to spend time looking for.
 
This depends on what is missing. If you have a hole car then most every thing is their. Gaskets-seal's and such are pretty much available. The hard to find stuff was like new wiper arm's and blades. One such item was the inner upper window trim. I did not have it. The bracket's for it I got through part's mix. Did not have the door trim that holds the door panel's on. I thought the front seat was not that hard to find. Every one say's it is the back seat. I searched far and wide from east coast to the west coast for part's I was missing. Well If you have a list post it and we will try and help. Some of these guy's may have it or know someone that dose. Russ.
 
You're using a shotgun approach to this topic when you need a Sniper's rifle. You're going to get a bunch of responses from guys that have RRs of other years and option packages and their experiences won't have any correlation to helping you zero in on 1970-specific parts that are traditionally hard to find. JMHO.
 
Yeah I understand that. Figured I would ask in case there were some common things that are nearly impossible to find. I will continue to post more specific questions as they come up.
 
Some parts are going to be found in an old Mopar only junk yard for instance I needed the bracket that holds the brake light switch no one makes them I don’t think I may be wrong and if I am I’m sure someone will let me know
 
There's no magic formula or a single go to guy or company. You just have to keep searching. I share your pain after searching for the correct Carter AVS and Stock intake for my car, took months & months. Other parts I had difficulty with were the OEM duct work for the Air Grabber. The 3-speed wiper motor was a bitch, but the little parts to connect it all together and the switch were even worse, near impossible. Needle in a stack of needles. Persistence will pay off.
 
Just to add the outer frame rail from A pillar post to outer wheel tub. I got from Palmer in Seattle Washington. He need the lower that affixed to the tub. Mine where good their and need the rest over the door where the rain gutter affixed too. At the back where the sail panel's are mine where rotted out where the package tray weld's too. Bought a bead roller from East Wood and a sheet of metal after getting a good picture was able to make the part's both sides. This tool came in handy also on making the lower part of the A pillar that the upper cowl was leaded too. They where nearly gone also. Enough to figure out what they should be like also a hammer- Anvil- and Oxygen and Acetylene torch.
 
Tony at Tony's Mopar parts was a good source for me. I found the Duct work for the Air Grabber there, a new steering wheel, a NOS side view mirror still in the box, and some NOS Air filters for the Air Grabber. The re-pop ones I got didn't fit so well, had trouble closing the lid.
 
the trouble with the bench seats is they can be found...but they are never close, and the shipping is usually as much as the seat.
 
There is a guy "Greg Peck" on the Facebook page "1969 Roadrunner in detail" who is selling a bench seat to a 1969 Roadrunner. From the pictures anyway it looks in really good shape. It's white, but obviously that can be changed if the frame is good. Probably will need new foam anyway. I told him about this forum, he may post it here. But if these things are hard to find, not sure, then might want to grab it.

Good point, the one I posted below is in Washington, the State. He has the emblems with the seats, they come with. His price is $850 + shipping.
 
Try something like U ship. Found they are pretty good on their price's. Yes wait for the lowest bid. :thumbsup: I got both sides of the frame rails from Washington state. But open up an account with Fed X. I dose not cost any thing but I do have a business.
 
The guys post says he has shipped through "Fastenal" and received good pricing. But $850 for the seat seems reasonable enough. I'd like to see more pictures, especially from the underside though.

There is a lot of interest, at least on Facebook. It will sell no doubt.
 
Heck I got a hole transmission shipped Fed Ex for around 250. From Co. It is not big but heavy. If you can't find them then it will go. What about the coronet or the satellite. After all your are looking for a frame to put new stuff on. Just trying to help. I have had to look all around to get some part's. Russ.
