I think some sort of zinc plating. I think I saw a thread on the A12 forum about it.

there not Chrysler, but I have a large box of new hedlight buckets,some complete with retainer rings if you'd rather just swap them out. Not Jap repos either.

Thanks Dave, but I took some steel wool to one of them and they are zinc and the paint saved them so I'm going to clean them up
