Heat shields #6,8,&7 Plug boots.

I was looking in Classic at the heat shields for the plug boots. The one for #7 has 3 different ones listed. Do any of you know which one fits a 1968-383. Thanks guys. Big Mo.
 
Are you trying to protect the wire's from the header's. They do make a heat sleeve that goes over wire's. Might be a better choice. We had that problem with the 440 in a drag car we had also. But those sleeves where not around back then. :thumbsup2:
 
I have no clue on how Classic is identifying the #7 heat shields, but as you state, three different varieties. You can scroll down the page and view the different styles that Todd Hoffman provides for the restoration market place. His website does a good job describing the different styles.

Ive had a few burnt wires in my car too. The routing of the wires make it almost impossible to not singe one here and there
 
I put heat shield rap on exhaust pipes on my Harley motor. After running it tested the rap by touching it with my finger's. It did not burn me so the test was good. So maybe raping the exhaust is also an option. Think those sleeves over the wire's would do the same thing. We bought the metal routing tray to protect the wires but still had burning problems.

Yes I know what you are talking about. I did order heat shields now but I still might get the sleeves for the plugs. Big Mo.
 
noticed my first burnt wire late one afternoon, sun was just going down, and I had the car running with the hood open. All of a sudden, big electrical arc from the plug wire to the inner fender wall about 3 inches long. Killed the engine and switched out the wire. The sputter was gone, but every now and again it burns through again. Really gotta get me some of those heat socks.
