can anyone tell me or show a pic on how the horn pad connects to the steering wheel?

I can only say that on my 68 (69 + 70 same) sport steering wheel, I gently twist off the padded center. It has three tabs on it that attach to the metal ring it covers. The ring is then removed by removing the screws that attack it to the wheel. Make sense?
I can take a pic, but it will have to wait until tomorrow.

my 68 was the same but this horn pad goes over the 3 spokes in the wheel and gets a center cap that presses in to finish it. wont be able to spin it

If your talking the pad with the roadrunner in the middle you have to pop the roadrunner out with a small screw driver to get at the bolt. And start at the left side because there is a tab on the right.

I'm not sure, but is your pad the same as mine?

Make sure you get the right horn switch with the three screw holes for the horn ring
