Well, following the suggestions of several people I got the lighter mechanical advance springs for the distrbutor. I even sprung for a new advance timing light! So I pulled the dis from the car today and disassembled the upper part to get to the springs. What I found was two different size springs. Since the two new springs are the same size I have to ask, should this have have had two springs of the same size? And what advantage could there be to have two different size springs? I included a picture of what was in there. The smaller spring came off easily, but the bigger was not so easy. Also the inside of the dis was dirty and had oil in it so I deceided to pull it all apart to clean it and make it easier to get the other spring off. Here's the screw up. While trying to punch the pin out of the collar I managed to break it. :brickwall: So now I'm SOL until I can get a new collar. Does anyone know where I might be able to get one?
