Insulation on interior roof.

Any of you guy's have input on what the heck to use. Remember a friend of mine had a Chevy think it was a Camaro. Had a big bulge and had to push it up to get into the car it hit his head when driving. Well that is the night mare I have. So any input is appreciated. Russ. :praying:
 
Think of putting hush mat between the roof rails and calling it good. Because I have already bed lined the roof before putting it on what do you think. Russ.
 
Woo wee Russ that hush mat is expensive I went to Home Depot and found some 1/4” foam with vapor barrier and glued it in and if you have some of the old stuff put it up there to
 
Hey Dmartin. Found the hush mat a lot less on East wood. It is not as expensive as the other people sell it. Think they where over stocked and trying to move it. You know most of this stuff is 100% or more mark up that we are buying. So will look around don't have any thing at all and did not like what the car builder's used it was like wool or some thing. But I do appreciate the thought and will bear in mind all info. Russ.
 
I stand corrected it is X mat from Eastwood dmartin. Have been looking around on the internet and some products they say let go and fall apart. Of course some of this is the cheap stuff. With all the bed liner figure I have a lot of heat bearer and sound proofing. Well I am still searching for people that have used this stuff. Russ.
 
My concern is down here in the summer the interior of a car can and will go north of 150 degrees with the windows up in less than an hour. I would hate to find the insulation sagging onto the head liner

Where are you Ranger state wise. How hot dose it get their. I decided to go with the insulation from eastwood. The roof and hood insulation. Figured if it will hold up under the hood then it should stay on the roof. Russ.
 
You guy's can give your selves a pat on the back for me. Will let you guy's know if this was a good Idea after a few year's. Thanks for all the help but will be back as I am putting the car back together. Russ.

I'm in northern Ill (about half way between Chicago and Rockford). Last week it got up to the mid to upper 90's.
The guy who did the headliner for me said he never uses any insulation, but I brought it because it had insulation from the factory and I had to remove some in order to tape up the headliner (it tore loose from dry rot while on the highway going to the Power Tour). He said since I supplied it, he'd install it. So far it's been fine, but then again, if I'm driving it, all the windows are down, so I don't know if it is really necessary or not.
 
Thanks Ranger. Well it get's hot where you are also. Triple digits this week I see. I decided to go with the insulation from Eastwood. The same insulation they use under hood. I called the tech line they said they had some issues in the beginning with the x mat but have redone the glue and no problems so far. We will see. Going to cut it where it will fit partly under the roof rails. They say it will stick to bed liner fine. Russ.
 
Yes sir ACME A12. I figured that they sprayed a coating on the bottom of the car back in the day. It sealed it up good and if not for it my car probably would not have been around. The coating was hell to get off. So figured if it sealed that good and bed liner is tough enough to with stand the punishment in a truck bed then I decided to coat parts and panels that can not bee seen. Was told it is a heat bearer as well as sound deadener. This why I went this way hope I don't regret my decision. Thank you for your input. I have bought the head liner insulation from Eastwood and was assured that it would not fall off after applying it. This should add noise and heat shielding to the car. Hope I decided rite. Russ.
 
Yours will be one of the quietest (in the interior while driving) Road Runners on the planet. Of that I have no doubt.
 
Yes but still want to here those cherry bomb mufflers. That is the hole point of having a muscle car. Just was looking to keep the heat out. But thinking about all the window's that transfer heat into the car cant block but so much of that out. :lol: :steering:
