Haven't had a chance to try the bird with the recurved distributor because I also pulled the trans and installed a new second gear, wasn't happy with the way it shifted. Happy to report the trans works great and the car picked up some bottom end and mid range with the distributor work

Don't you love it when a plan come together! What was wrong with the gear that you had to change it?

Nicely done. How are you able to touch metal without melting? I did notice it crunched when you shifted it on our test drive many moons ago. I am guessing that was the issue?

Yep, if you weren't aggressive with the shift it would grind or not go in. The little teeth that the stop ring or syncro meshes with were worn and I missed it the first go around.

Probably need to re-jet those dual thermoquads now...and you might want to change out those 3.64's for some 4.20's while you're at it...

Good job. Did you do the tranny on your back or did you find someone to take pity on you and let you borrow their lift?

Yes, she is a lovely young lady, but I'm giving Mrs. HemiBeep 99% of the credit for that...

Here is a pic of second gear, the main gear is ok but the little teeth that mesh with the syncro are rounded off :yesnod:

Is that a hemi gear with the bushing inside? I don't remember seeing that in my 23 spline.

I heard, from one of the judges at Dana Point, that you do your best work on your back. :acme:
