Hey guys i'm hoping the anti freeze that came out of the block when i removed the header bolt is normal on a 69 440. id like to change the gasket, but when iot leaked i got a little nervous and put it back in. Please no cracked heads.

Exhaust bolt holes go straight through the water jacket, it's normal. Drain your coolant , dry out the holes as best you can and use Teflon thread sealant, paste not tape, when reassembling.

Install studs and replace header bolts. That way you don't have to drain the coolant if you have to remove the headers.

Make sure they'll clear the tubes if you go this route I know they'd be a pita in my case.

I had to shorten 2 studs with my headers on a 440 :yesnod:

Yeah,I thought about using studs, but I find the ARP header bolts with the 3/8" hex heads work pretty well.
