Without any trimming what-so-ever a 275/60 15 on a 15x8 4.5 backspace will work without rubbing.

what the hell is a "donk"?

Look at the picture. That is the epitome of a "Donk". Typically anything outfitted with wheels 20" or larger are referred to as "Donks".

I can't help but wonder how older folks in the 50's viewed the wide whites and baby moons!

One of our former members ran that combo but had to trim the wheel well lips to get them to fit without rubbing. It will be very close.

I think a 295 would look awesome tucked inside a 'Runner wheel well. I would think the rim would have to be 10" wide? I know from observing many over the years however, that 10" is pushing the envelope in a stock wheel well. Maybe with a custom offset or width? Maybe 9"? I think a 295 on an 8" wheel may not provide the look you're after. Do you have access to a used 295 that you could play with?
