When I got the RR the subframe was bent after accident when it was still in georgia.

Now I have exchanged the subframe for straight one and steeringgear does not line-up with couple.

2 choices ;
1) re-shim the steering gear.
2) losen steeringcolumn baseplate against firewall and re-align.( more easy due to TTI headers)

What would you guys do?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Loosen the steering column at the base and the upper mount and try to realign.

If that doesn't work, using the measurement points listed in the shop manual, check the frame/body with a tape measure. There may be other damage that wasn't fixed.

A good frame shop can straighten almost anything... I would only shim the steering box as a last resort.

Hi Big John ,
Body is straight when I did the restauration 7 years ago.
Only thing at that time I could not get was a strait subframe.
Due to a leaking rear main seal I had to pull the 528 anyway so also changed the subframe for straight one.
Engine was always tilted to pass. side .

The Georgian owner almost ran over a dog but trying to miss the dog it ended up in a didge.

Also put in a set of adjustable strutrods for fine tuning the roadhandling.

Problem solved.
First tried the firewall plate but not enough.
Removed spacer from steeringbox and was dead-on.

Thanks anyway for the input.
