Hi guys,

I have a 70 RR with 383 bored and stroked. Dyno 420hp 510ftlb. Have period correct stock Firestones all around, but even with autotrans, spins rear tires very easily. 3.91 rear btw.

Looking for a recommendation for a tire that I can use on street and strip, that will help me hookup. I don't put many miles a year on car, so wear isn't a real big issue for me. I hardly ever drive in rain unless it's a passing storm and I'm at a car show driving back or something. Haven't been to strip but would like to try it, so definitely need tires.

Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Richard

I run Mickey Thompson E.T. Street Radial Pro's on 2 of my cars. Do they work? Yes, they do. Are they sticky for the street? Yes, they are. So sticky that with no burnout and just driving down the street to a local cruise night. My brother was following behind me and he said when I changed lanes in front of him that my right rear tire peeled up the white line right up off the road...

I have made a couple passes with them. ( nitto 5555 r 2) they did much better than street tires with which I didn’t stop spinning until third gear. I still had to feather a little coming off the line. I’m still learning as a driver so I’m not so sure my experience would be same as for you.

Ahhh, this sounds like what I'm looking for. Hope you were able to get the white line off the radial though. . .

I like the way the Nitto 555r2's look. Nice. Just a little bit of tread. What power and rear end are you running? Mine has auto which calms it down somewhat, but still loads of spin off the line.
