Went out to dinner tonight and took the Road Runner.
Pull up to a stop light and next to me is a new Challenger with the 392 Hemi badging.
Joking around I start revving my engine. He gives me the thumbs up.
The light turns green, we both gun it. He blows me away.
We only went about 20-yards
But my engine was way louder, so I got that going for me.
LOL

I work for one of the big car rental companies moving cars around and once in a while I'll get into a hemi powered Challenger. While I can't play around too much I do have to be able to blend in with highway traffic and those things will push me hard into the seat. It's easy to tell that my Road Runner is no match for the new modern muscle.

Back in '06 i bought a new Corvette ZO6 with the LS7 505hp 6 speed etc. I couldnt believe how incredibly fast the car was and thought back to my muscle cars and how they were no match for todays iron. I can recall one time i was out with my girlfriend we came to a red light there was a Jeep (dodge)_Cherokee next to me. I said to my girlfriend this guy will race us when the light turns green. She said why hes driving a jeep?? i said you didnt notice the SRT8 emblem on the back hatch. As it turned out we did race and he got a good look at my tail lights :)

Ok so they all levee us in the dust. Maybe. I can get them off the light and clearly leave them in an 1/8 mile but here the come and pass me with those darn 5 and 6 speed transmissions. But in the end, they don't own a 69 Roadrunner.

I was leaving a little cruise-in down in Hell, M., I was in the Angry Bird, and in front of me were a boyfriend and girlfriend in their respective newer cars, a hopped up Mustang and an ‘06 GTO. You could tell that they spent a lot of money on them, and they certainly sounded the part. They were even wearing matching “racing” suits. Anyway, it’s a windy road so they did a little carving but when they hit the straight I knew they were going to hit it hard. Of course they did, and so did I. I don’t think they expected me to be anywhere near them, but 6bbls of carburetor isn’t easy to shake. When we got to the light, I was making a left, they were going straight, they both gave me a thumbs up out their windows, and all was right with the world again!

I had that same Z06. It was very fast. I had it up to 175 and it was still pulling.

Hell Michigan , huh.
Why not just call it Gehenna?
"Down to Gehenna or up to The Throne, he travels fastest that travels alone."
Extra credit to anyone that knows what fairly recent movie used the Kipling quote.
No cheating.
Ya have to have watched the movie and not a web search.

Most of these old cars aren’t that fast. My road runner a concours 383 4spd car got the doors blown off it by a vette, new srt challenger, Mustang gt, Nissan GTR. It’s got cool factor but really they are quite lame. My new Mustang gt is pretty exciting to drive, has cruise control and a/c, and get 30+ mpg on the highways at 65mph and below……

Hell is about 4 miles from my house. We go down to the saloon about every couple weeks for the fish fry, it’s really good. You can buy land in Hell if you choose, the guy who owns the whole town sells square inches for a very nominal price. And, you get to be mayor for a day! I think his name is Beelzebub , or something like that!

I have the opposite fun. I never challenge anyone to race. I like when other musclecars and today's newer iron challenge or rev their engines at me and I blow their doors off in my Roached Runner. They never expect it from this old p.o.s.

Haha that’s awesome! Even if the Challenger took off faster, nothing beats the roar of a classic Road Runner. Sometimes it’s not about winning the race — it’s about turning heads and having fun!

Even with today's traction controlled newer vehicles, I can out 60' most of them easily with the 4:88 gears, spool and drag radials, even without the 2 stages of nitrous.
