One more quick question if I may..... Being a 4speed, I use my parking brake frequently. Upon releasing the pedal, it doesn't raise up enough to shut the light off in the dash. I can pull the lever farther up, and eventually I can manage to get the light off.

So...is there a spring or something that is replaceable that can fix this?

I've searched the local parts online stores and haven't found anything.

I've been just dealing with it for YEARS, but would like to resolve it.
I've looked mine over somewhat and can't figure out what's wrong or missing.

i would double check your cable adjusment. make sure all drum brakes are adjusted on the service side then adjust the parking brake. should be able to get enough tension to hold pedal up without causing the brakes to drag. oh, release the tension on the parking brake first before doing the service brake adjustment.

Thanks. Guess its time to get my nose back into the shop manual. I was kinda hoping there was a spring or something that needed replaced.

Hmm....I suppose you're right. As long as nothing is catching with the pedal down...

On mine, the brakes are completely disengaged when I pull the lever. It's just the arm of the pedal droops.

Parking brake in Bambilicious is all FUBAR. You have to push down on the release lever after depressing the pedal to get it to lock in place. I've never investigated the problem...figured it would become apparent when I tore the car apart at some point. Hopefully it is an easy fix...
