Road Runner emblem hole size

HA! Something that I thought was going to be easy as shit turned out to be a PITA. The schematic says 1/8" but the emblems I have are real tight and get stuck about 7/8 of the way in. It also comes with inserts(?) that go in before or do you put them on the back side?

You have a picture of the back of the emblem and inserts, it sounds a little strange to me.

I hear that these clips have to go in the hole first. But the post diameter increases to the point it is very tight in the stock 1/8' hole. Here are some photos:

I would try using a couple little speed nuts for those posts. Seems to me that is what my original ones had. :huh:
