Car is idling fine, but runs really rough once it is going. I once had a coil wire that grounded, and this problem is resembling that and/or bad timing.

The only thing i did was pull a few things from the firewall to touch it up.

I know I am going to find something that makes me look like a dumbass, but anyone have any little things that I might overlook.

I would start by checking all the connections associated with the work you did. Then I would check the grounds on the engine and battery. :cents:

Check your plug wires, making sure one isn't loose.

Did both of those things twice. Firing order, timing, connections....ugggg! I even switched the coil with my Dart's unit.

I am wondering about the Pertronix EI unit, but I do not even know how to start checking that. I wish I would have saved the points so I could use them as a test unit, but those are the first things to go whenever I buy an old car.

Also painted the voltage regulator, but I am sure that couldn't be a problem.

I have never suffered from a bad condensor, so I am not sure if that could be a problem. I am going to replace that tomorrow regarless.

i would start by going back to the old coil....swap it back and see what happens....the check pertronic unit for piched/chaffed wires shorting out....a buddy had the same problem on his mustang.....
