School me on alternators

That's not an upgrade. You've switched from regulating the positive side of the alternator field to regulating the negative side.

I would use the old alternator with a new electronic regulator made for the 69 and earlier car... But that's me.
 
You know... I need to apologize for that flip answer. I was tired, but that's no excuse.
 
No offense taken John. How do you tell what alternator you have? is there a tech article somewhere on this?
