The one's that got away.

Not really a "Got Away" story, but more of a "Where is it now?"

I went to Waukesha North High School here in SE Wisconsin, graduated in1985. For the entire time I went to that school, in my high school auto shop, there was a rolling chassis/body with motor, B5 Blue, 69 Hemi Roadrunner. The owner of the car was a friend of my auto instructor, Art Lutzke, and it was basically in storage there. I lusted after that car for three years, and then one day my senior year it was gone. I saw it many years later at a Wisconsin MoPar Muscle club show in the same condition other than I think it had a drivers seat in it. No grille, hood, interior, etc. I never saw the car again after that. I hope it ended up somewhere good. I regret never taking a picture (or 20) of it.

Mine would have to be my first car. A 67 valiant 100 2 door post car. Completely rust free and straight as an arrow. I painted it and moved springs inside frame rails, 8 3/4 3.55 gears. 10:1 383. Dad never would let me put license on it. I traded it for a 72 scamp with a 340. The scamp was named Charlotte. Christine's ugly step sister. Blew it up 3 days later. 6-7 transmissions. Nothing but problems.

You won't believe this list. I never advertised any of them for sale. I would like to have them all back and never had to sell any of them:
My 1st car- brand new 69 Y3 383 4 spd Runner Coupe (Daily driver sold it the day I paid my 36th payment)
Black A12 4 spd Runner Coupe (owned it for 23 yrs)
F8 69 383 4spd Runner Coupe (Daily driver)
Silver 1973 Pontiac Grand Am 400-4bbl loaded (nice car)
64 Dodge 330 SS/B aluminum car (a real one-I kept the Hemi and put it in my black A12 for 6 yrs)
F8 69 Hemi 4 spd Bee Coupe 2nd owner
68 Firebird 400 convertible automatic console
69 Y2 Hemi RR (RM27J) Convertible column automatic/PW
I guess I'm proof that everything has a selling price!

WOW! You've had a few birds. My first one (B5 '69 383 4 spd HT) was bought new. Sold it a year later :( (always missed it) for a '96 Riviera. My next (current) one (almost identical) was purchased just last month.

when my uncle came home from nam in late 68, he bought a 67 dart gts, 383 auto, red with white int. totaled it a month later, he hit his head pretty hard, as he has been a bow tie guy ever since. wish i never would have traded my 71 340 duster in on a new charger in 76, never did like that car! sold it to another uncle in 81 with 5 k on it. he drove it till the body rotted to nothing and had over 200k on it. the ones that got away,

70 boss mustang 429 4-sp, $2500.00, wasnt into fords
67 440 gtx 4pd, mint body and int, bad engine, $300.00
superbird in front of an old apt. building, all there except wing, 6 bbl 4-speed. left several notes on window, no responce.
69 hemi rr 4-spd and a 65 satelite 4-spd. rr was old drag car with a 392 in it, 65 was a 383 car, minimal rust on both, talked to his mom several times, but he never called me.
these were all in the mid 70s, what coulda been!

I was about to pull the trigger on a 71 RR that was completely restored, was 383 3spd bench, (still had original trans/shifter to go with sale) Curious Yella, we were about $1000 apart, his # was acceptable, but it would have been an additional $1,500 to ship it. By the time I finally thought it was worth the shipping (about 8hrs)...it was sold; going to a museum in China.

My first 69 RR. 383, four speed. Bought it at age 16 for 300 bucks. Sold it two years later for 500 bucks. 1966 Chevelle SS 396, four speed. Paid 500 bucks. Sold it a year later at age 19 for 800 bucks. I thought they would always be around to buy 35 years ago. What a dumb ass.

I wish I still had my first car 69 Dart Swinger 340, Auto on the column, bench seat, T5 Copper, tan interior. I have never had another car that could do burnouts like that Dart.
