I'm moving fast here boys and need some help!

I have 10 days off work after this Friday (the beauty of being a school principal!). I'm expecting my car to be painted this week, and hopefully heading home this Sunday. My brother and I are committed to getting as much done as we possibly can over my little break.
I'd like to have as many parts ready to roll as possible so that we're not waiting around for things.
We're hoping to work on the front end rebuild, front disc brake conversion, full rear leaf spring swap with bushings, replacing the drums on the rear end, and the motor should be back on the 22nd.

A couple questions...

Bumper mounting brackets...black or the color of the car (r4)?
I have my original bumpers and they're in rough shape. It's $600-700 to have them straightened and plated, or $650 for AMD repops. Anybody have thoughts on that? I am happy with AMD so far, but would like to hear from someone that is actually using the repops first. I could sell the original bumpers too, which would go off the cost of the repops.

What else will I need to complete my gas tank installation? I know I need my lines, but don't want to forget anything else.
Here's what I'm buying...

Does this look like a good front end rebuild kit?

Complete 19 piece weather strip set for 69 vert. Anyone use this brand? Any recommendations for the glue?

Bumper mounting brackets...black

I picked my bumpers up at the nationals years ago and carried them to the car. Car sat outside for years during a lengthy divorce. They still look good and were exposed to the elements. Unknown what brand though.

No neck and or cap for the tank in the picture.

Front end kit looks complete.

Rubber fits tight and loosens with age. I am still almost slamming mine but they are getting much better.

Thanks for the info.
I'm going to see if "A Deals" have the filler neck and grommet available.

You may also want the pad for the top of the tank and pads for the straps for the tank. Helps keep it from rattling but can also accumulate moisture.

Mine is up on the rack this week and the mechanic is on vacation. So if you need any pictures let me know I can snap them. Just send me a PM and I'll send them to you.

You will also need the ground strap

Only other thing I could think of are gas tank vent tubes but, maybe you already have them...

I don't know how fast Jamie Megaparts can ship to the Detroit area but here in Chicagoland if you order tomorrow he'll have them here by Wednesday possibly even Tuesday.

Do the AMD bumpers come plated on both sides? Would the place that would do yours do both sides for that price?

That would sway my decision. :cents:

That's a good question. I'm really hoping someone on here is using the AMD set so I can get some insight on them.

Get good front end parts like Moog if you drive it much you don't want to have to replace it in a short period of time. There is some inexpensive stuff out there that will bite you in the A$$$$

Thanks for the bumper advice. I'm probably going to go with them. I want to wait to see if I can save my mounting brackets before I order.

I spent come $$$ today boys.

I live about an hour from Inline Tube, and went there today and purchased my front disc conversion, parking brake cable, and all new stainless pre-bent brake, trans, and gas lines. They have a pretty good reputation across all classic car brands, although I know Abody had some difficulty with them. They've been helpful so far.

I called "A Deals" (I really like this company out of Maryland a lot) and ordered my grille, gas tank, straps, sending unit, and stepped up to their top of the line front end rebuild kit that is American made, 19 piece weatherstrip set for a convertible, and my carpet.

Also called MegaParts and set-up, but didn't finalize a pretty big order. I told them everything I need, and they were supposed to call me back with a total but never did. I hope to hear from them tomorrow.

Any recommendation on leaf springs? I'm going to need to replace the whole set up.

I've not had any problems with mine but I have heard others who have had bad results with the MP XHD springs. Personally I won't but any MP parts anymore. The springs were the last MP product I have bought. I've bought other items and been disappointed. The quality control sucks and there is no warranty of any kind. Thanks, but no thanks...

I reconditioned mine and had a spring shop arch them a little more than stock.
