what is the value - opinions please

I have a line on this numbers matching, 4-speed in RR1 red – which is really maroon/burgundy with two tone black/grey (silver) interior.
So what is something like this worth?
The guy is asking $85K

If its as nice as the pics inside and out and underneath, missing the steel wheels which is common and no mention of any documentation. I'd say he's about right unless he is a guy that needs to unload it fast and will work with you. Double check the #s

He has said that he has Galen documentation and the underside looks like it was color sanded and buffed during the rotissierrie restoration.
 
well nobody wants '68s. the 4 speed and being a post car save it. the engine offsets having Galen's name with it.:jester:

Vince, as you I am sure know, Galen's report can be both good and bad, it shows what is right and wrong. Is there a broadcast sheet or any owner documents? I would guess there is a fender tag or Galen would have walked away without some sort of proof of how it was equipped.
 
The only criteria I had when looking for my Road Runner was that she have a 4 speed and a hardtop which oddly enough made my search considerably tougher, however I was not going to compromise. Y'all probably won't believe this but the ONLY reason that I don't own a new Challey is because the production model has a post unlike the prototypes and concept cars which were true hardtops. Silly? ...maybe, but it was a deal killer for me. :grumpy:
 
hey we like what we like. after i lost my last car in a fire, i spent hours looking foir another one. it had to be a four speed,as complete as possible(lost all my parts,most of my tools,garage) and prefferbly original green car. I kept finding post cars, and they really started to look the best to me, and a great deal fell in my lap on one.

Yep. My first two '69 RRs were hardtops, third a 'vert, and current one is a post. Hated the posts when I was a kid. Now I like them the best because of the all business, stripper element (assuming no A87 is present).

I really like that '68, Vince. Hope you end up with it. Good luck.
 
just stay away from the Grey Poop crowd and you'll still be a regualar guy..
 
Well as it turns out we passed on the car.
Galens report (as was mentioned) pointed out some things like warranty block and wrong trans that really brought us down from the "story" we were told.
I have the contact info if anyone else wants a shot at a legit hemi 4-speed car.
It is just like I was told early on; "get the best information from the best source you can and then go check for yourself."
 
NADA Guides Classic Car pricing says base from $36k {bucket of bolts} to $129k & an average price $69k {really nice}, allegedly a full numbers matching 150% with the 426ci Hem & 4 speed in 1968 {$329k 1000pt concourse fully restored or perfect survivor} "maybe", it only listed HT's not coupes, the coupes will be usually lower, the non matching trans & block that you mentioned, kills the value like 25%+ IMHFO... Could be a nice driver still, #'s crap :rules: , doesn't always matter if it's a "real Hemi Car" & has the documentation of a warranty replacement engine, still hurts the resale value thou...
