What is it about a roadrunner, any year, that makes it your favorite classic car?

They are unusual not ordinary like a Camaro or mustang just about everyone has one of those.

started with the cartoon. Then the design, classic body lines, pure muscle. And learning about the B&Bs in the front seat of a '73 340 4 speed sealed my fate.

I have always had an appreciation of classic cars and am still younger (35).....I think. I agree dmartin, you see so many camaros, mustangs, etc that when you see the more unique/rare classic cars they really grab your attention.

I like the fact that Plymouth is no longer around which makes them even more rare. Beyond that I think that the roadrunners have a lot of features which no other classic cars have. You all know what they are but here are some of the ones that makes me like the roadrunners (engine options - 440+6, air grabber hood w/ air grabber decal, cartoon mascot, graphics (black striping on hood, dust trail, trunk lid decal), rallye dash, hurst shifter, tick-tock tach and generally speaking an overall badass body style. Very mean looking and sounding.

Looking forward to working on the car with my son and will be something I will keep forever and pass along to him.

For me it was the '69, and only the '69, because I bought one when I returned home from Viet Nam (the only new car I ever bought). Always had a spot in my heart for it and when I found this one (almost exactly the same as the first one, color, engine, trans, rear end) I had to have it.

As mentioned, Mustang's, Camero's and Chevelle's are a dime a dozen, but at most car shows (except Mopar shows), there is (usually) only one Road Runner.........mine, and it does draw a lot of attention.

My Mom had a 69 Road Runner. F3 green green v top 2 tone green interior. Bench seat column shift ps light and decor packages. I have been hooked ever since.

:steering:Why? Loved the cartoons every Saturday morning; a stroke of genius to think of a car with same theme; and the horn.... who could resist getting one? Actually we had a ‘67 Mustang Fastback and with 2 little ones and after going grocery shopping, nope! The Belvedere platform was perfect; spacious big bench seats, huge trunk; nobody used seat belts back in ‘69-‘70 though. Had the right sound and maybe a bit slack on power by today’s standards but no one knew it then lol......

Forgot about the 4 speed too; 6 speed today, huh?

When bringing mine home was fallowing my buddy with it on the trailer. It looked as if it was a fat bottom girl. The way the fender's flared out. Gave it style. Also my buddy had one and the Bahama Blue with the rumble it made as well at 45 mph those Cragar Mag's looked as though they were spinning in revers. I was hooked.

the 1969 has the best look and saw one as a youngest and had to have one after this guy did a burnout that made my heart skip a beat .
and now I got one and every time I fire her up my heart skips a beat every time .

My first car was a 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 my grandpa gave me when I turned 16. It was his car and had been sitting for about 5-years or so undriven. I put a battery in and it fired up, burned more oil than gas. That summer I was working at a lumber mill, making pallets. Driving home from work some lady ran a stop sign and t-boned me in her VW Bug. You could see the VW imprint in the passenger side door, it was caved in. The Insurance Co totaled my Ford, so with that money and the money I was making at the Mill, I paid $700 for a 1969 Ragtop Roadrunner, it was T7. I hated the color, so my Dad and I prepped the car and had it painted Y2. L60 15 inch on the back, shackled the leaf's. G60 14 inch on the front. That would have been 1974. Drove the car through college and it finally was to far gone for me to sink anymore money into it. Rot everywhere, way beyond my ability to fix. The engine and trans were strong, but the rear differential was going. It would "CLUNK" every time I went from a dead stop. I needed a car for work, so I put it on a used car lot a friend of mine owned, and it sold. Always wanted another one, looked all over for that car but it's never turned up. I found another one in its place about 9 years ago now. This is the only pic I have, 1-day after paint. Lots more stories, but I won't bore you.23154728_10211972133871714_5081556621210973911_o[1].jpg
