Want to change over to disc but the kits I have found for 11 inch drums need spindle replacements. That involves a lot more skill than what I want to attempt and paying someone is expensive. Any suggestions?

:steering:I used the changeover from Right Stuff. The spindles were included. Been on for years. They may have a kit now that fits drum spindles. The changeover was NOT that difficult.

Torsion bars are a ton easier (and safer) than fighting springs.

I believe Wilwood has a kit that fits drum spindles. Definitely not cheap, used their Tri5 fronts on my ‘55. Value received.:beep:

Simple... Don't change them.

The drum brakes on these cars are huge. 11"x 3".

What I'm saying is to not buy into the hype of people trying to sell you disc brake kits. It's not as much of an upgrade as they have you think.

I can't get the drum brakes right. I've changed everything and they still pull to the right. Put left on right everything.

You just need to figure out what's wrong.

First... Are the shoes on right? Short shoe forward? I've seen guys put the long shoes on one side and the short shoes on the other.
Hoses good? Cylinders? Wheel alignment good?

Short shoe up front. New hoses cylinders springs everything new. Maybe it's in the lines from the master cylinder. The car is almost 50. They stop great when they are even. I will keep at it.

If you ever trailer it look for a mashed steel line on the diff. Don't ask me how I know.
