My Holley had nitrate float's in it. Back in the day we had Gas with Alcohol in it. This ate up the coating on the nitrate float's Bought two new float's and the back firing went away. Was able now to adjust the amount of fuel being delivered to the motor.

I can not give it wot from sitting still have to baby it to start moving cannot floor board it from a stand still or it will cut out and back fire through carb also can not floor it when in second gear without cutting out my timing is correct plugs and wires and distributer is good doesn’t appear to have a vacuum leak, I’m thinking maybe my timing is to retarded?

I know this is an old thread but I was just curious if you ever came up with a solution as I’m having the same exact issues with taking off from a stopped position. Wants to cut out ever single time and have to baby it up to speed to keep it from cutting out.

What type carb are you running. When buying this runner it was back firing through the carb. The floats had to be replaced. The timing was off as well. If you have not done it rebuild the carb. then give it a good tune up. Check for any vacuum leak's. Then see how she dose. Maybe a dirty fuel filter also. :thumbsup2:

My Holley rebuild kit came with accelerator pump cam's. Called Holley and they suggested which one to use. That probably helped it did not have any hick up's when revving up the motor.
