Recently tried to see what options my dad's 69 gtx came with. Found the fender tag, but it is ruff. Any help would be great

Being a Lynch Rd car, there will be almost no options on the tag. The top line is the gate numbers, the next line down are the engine, trans and rear end codes, the bottom line is obviously the VIN, next line up is the color

A4 is buffed silver, or in 69 it’s called Platinum Metallic, and the reason there are 2 A4 codes are that the body and roof are both painted

P6X is premium trim level, 6 is bucket seats, X is black,

X9 is black upper door paint
1X is black vinyl top, and yes the roof was painted before the top was installed
26 is a 26” radiator
595 is 3:23 SG 8 3/4” rear end
E86 is 440 4bbl 385hp
D21 is 4 speed with reverse light, as is the 605 code at the top

When I purchased my 69 Road Runner, I had finally given up on finding an Ivy Green Post car. My original 69’RR, purchased new Oct 1968, was an Ivy Green Post car and I really wanted to relive that car. Once the body/paint shop started the process of removing all the paint, it was discovered under the blue was orange and under the orange was Ivy Green, so I got the car I dearly wanted. I also soaked the fender tag in paint remover over night and the paint shop found what was left of the original factory build sheet in the trunk on the underside of the package tray. Turns out it was a special order car with loads of stuff. Attached are two photos - the tag and how the car turned out

If you ever want to decode a fender tag there are plenty of sites. This is the one I use.

Awesome car, I’m really glad it found its way to you.

The body shop took nearly two years just to remove everything to bare metal and bring it back to life. There’s not one drop of Bondo or body filler anywhere on the car… the reason it took so long for the body work. There was; however, plenty of rusted out places with lots of daylight shining through. The original 383 and 727 trans were trashed and replaced with an Indy 572 MAXX Wedge, a custom built B&M with race-ready torque converter and a Gear Vendor unit. It dyno’d at 918 hp and 900 lbs torque. It looks basically stock; however it’s built for serious drag racing. It should do somewhere in the neighborhood of 9.0 to 9.5 (with the right tires)!! And that’s with power everything and AC. I wanted a beast that was also pleasant to drive.
