Axle and Differential Disassembly (69 RR convertible)

I don't think you are understanding my question. Should that shaft and gear be pressed out of the case or is there some locking mechanism I can't see? That is what the manual does not explain.

Axle and Differential Disassembly (69 RR convertible)

Ah, so what I see that look like stripped out splines in the flange are the marks left by the original studs. Thanks. As an aside, are left hand studs available anywhere? I haven't been able to find any since everyone uses all right hand these days. Using all right hand makes it less original.

Axle and Differential Disassembly (69 RR convertible)

That won't help as it is the splines in the flange that are stripped. It is not the bearings that concern me, it is the gear and shaft assembly removal from the case. I have the manual but it is not clear how how either of my questions are answered.

Axle and Differential Disassembly (69 RR convertible)

    1. Is the hub on the end of the axles removable and if so how? Some of the splines that hold the wheel studs are stripped out. Am I stuck buying new axles? 2. How is the pinion gear and shaft removed from the posi differential? It appears it needs to be pressed out but I don't want to apply...

    Driver Side Window

Just an FYI. There is an outfit called glass-seekers.com so I am hoping they can locate one. I guess the problem is that there were only about 2000 convertibles made.

    Driver Side Window

I'm having trouble finding a window for the driver side door. It is easy to find one for a hardtop but not a convertible (1969). Can someone point me to a place? TIA.

Under Frame Plastic Thingy Removal (69 Convertible)

Thanks for the replies. Dumb engineering, IMO.

Under Frame Plastic Thingy Removal (69 Convertible)

Here's a better picture of the attaching hardware.

Under Frame Plastic Thingy Removal (69 Convertible)

Under the front part of the frame there are 2 plastic things (some kind of guard?). Anyway they seem to be attached by some unidentifiable round things. The have a small hole in the center but it is not a hex as it seems smooth. Can someone tell me what they are and how to remove them? The...

    Rear Main Bearing Cap Removal

After visiting a few auto parts stores I finally found a 12 point SAE set and that did indeed work. Everyone had 12 point metric but few had SAE. Now I can pull the crank and get the block to a machine shop. Thanks for the help.

    Rear Main Bearing Cap Removal

Thanks. Finding a 12 point locally may not be a trivial task. I'd hate to have to wait for mail order. P.S. The color of yours appears to be the same a mine (blue fire metallic). :)

    Rear Main Bearing Cap Removal

To remove the rear main bearing cap it appears there is a plate that needs to be removed first. However, the two bolts that need to be removed to hold it in do not appear to be normal (see attached). I cannot find socket that fits properly. It seems to be somewhere between 3/8 (too small) and...

    Removing Shifter Lever

I did remove the whole thing from the bottom just so I could get the tranny out. I still need to get the shifter out of the mechanism but at least I can work on a bench now. Thanks for the replies so that I know I am not alone with this problem.

    Removing Shifter Lever

I am just starting my restoration project on my 69 Roadrunner convertible and am at the point where I need to removed the 4-speed transmission. My problem is removing the Hurst shifter lever. According to my manual I should insert a .010 feeler gauge into the driver's side of the shifter to...
