Was it in the car working before you took it out? Need more info on why it was removed,and did the shop remove it, or did you remove it and take it to them? John

I forgot to mention that the scored area on the sure grip (scalloping)is old damage from 10 years ago when my old 3:23 pinion was loose and rubbed against the housing. These are Richmond gears now(4:10). 2 days before taking the car to the strip we replaced the yoke because of a stripped u-joint...

Took my car to Edgewater Motorsports Park this weekend. Discovery: Healthy 383,slicks,& a 4-speed=BROKEN 8 3/4 with 4:10 gears. Will post carnage when I find my camera.Caps are not cracked,but the ring gear is missing more teeth than a Kentucky Hillbilly !

Been driving the car around town here n there.It just took some getting used to a diaphram style clutch after I've been using a Hayes street/strip with a 3 finger style for 10+ years. Clutch feels great now! Thanks for all the replies. john

Thanks! Already got a Schumacher torque strap,as well as new z-bar bushings,clip-retainer,and new nylon washers for the linkage. I can adjust the nut so that my clutch pedal comes all the way up to the stop,however I thought that there was supposed to be 3/4-1 in of free play in there?

My hood is from Unlimited Products.I payed too much for the hood and too much for the freight! It does not have the recessed area in the front like the originals,and the scoop is way taller. When I called them to question this,they said it was just a "replica style hood"and I could send it back...
