Air filter base and top plates.

Ok so here it goes. my base plate on the air filter for the air grabber system has a bridge in it with a hole in the middle to tighten it to the carb. Also two studs to hold the top plate in place. Mine is hitting the carb and won't allow It to fully seat to the carb. Have cut it off and the base plate is fully seating on the carb. I don't see any way to install the top plate except to drill a hole in the middle and put a wing nut too hold the assembly to gather. Any thoughts or what you did in this case. Thanks Blue.
